At this first day there were only few cars and few passengers but the station developed well during the next days. Here are the waiting vans with the conductors that buy stuff at the hawker that placed her stall nearby. The photo has been taken on a workday afternoon, the camera did not disturb the people (the scene did not change after our camera became visible and we started to make photos).

1 Interpretation
This is an illegal matatu station that emerged during the riots as the passengers were avoiding the official one in the middle. The hawkers were seeting up improvised steet stalls right after the informal matatu stop has been installed. Appearing police wil (in most cases) displace the hawkers - minutes before they arrive.
2 Questions & 1 Response
Which conditions give rise to illegal matatu stations?
LOCAL CONDUCTOR GANGS THAT EXTORT MONEY FROM MATATU OWNERS.
What other strategies, besides illegal stations, might emerge if fights spill over into the traffic realm?
