assortment of matching tea and smelling cups – Sold in a shop in Yingge’s Ceramics Street

Tea pots – Displayed in one of the shops

assortment of tea tools Tea tools sold in a shop in Yingge’s Ceramics Street – produced in China

Context of the observation

Our trip to Yingge demonstrated the diversity of products related to tea in Taiwan. The town has several hundred pottery manufacturers whose products are sold in numerous shops string along Yingge Old Street.

Location

239, Taiwan, New Taipei City, Yingge District

1 Interpretation

Whereas the price range and therefore quality of tea pots sold in Yingge’s ceramics street is diverse, tea tools (needle, tong, funnel, spoon) are cheap products primarily imported from China. The most important item used in a tea ceremony is the tea pot, the equipment is rarely seen as a whole, in terms of being a set.
